I am an economist interested in technological innovation. Currently, I am an Assistant Professor at Universidad de los Andes School of Management (Bogotá, Colombia) and a Research Affiliate at the Sociotechnical Systems Research Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I am also an affiliated researcher at UNU-MERIT. I have a PhD in Economics and Policy Studies of Technological Change from UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University.
I analyze data on patents, technology performance and industry output to understand drivers and directions of technological change and its wider effect on the economy. I am convinced that for our findings to be truly relevant for policy and managerial decisions, we need to test the predictive power of our models. To build good predicting models, I apply theories and methods from complex system analysis, evolutionary economics, and strategy.
